Chapter 3

Over the next few days, I showed Amira around town, introducing her to the surface world. Slowly, she grew comfortable enough to tell me her story.

She had been born as a low-ranked servant in the dark elf class system. Though those of higher castes and greater deeds could travel freely to the surface, someone like her could only dream. Amira had dared to do more than dream but had been punished with exile.

Lost and lonely without the rigid structure of her homeland, she wandered aimlessly on the surface, only interacting with the few other dark elves she met. Through their spider-like information network, she heard about me and thought there might be a chance for redemption.

I could sympathize. Her attempt on my life had been born of desperation rather than maliciousness. I could sense a good heart in her, as well as a magnetic intensity that drew people in. Opportunities were beginning to open up to her. Perhaps too many.

I was enjoying a warm bath when Amira burst through the door. Her bare feet pattered across the marble floor before she sat down on one of the steps leading to my massive, pool-like tub. She was wearing the first dress from Rosie, condensation beading on the blue silken fabric. “I can’t do this! I can’t!”

Lifting my head from the edge of the tub, I frowned. “What’s wrong, Amira?”

She turned to face me, frustration written into her face. “There’s so much to do! I could be a dancer, or perhaps a baker, or even a warrior. How is anyone supposed to choose?”

I pushed myself off the edge of the large bath and swam my way towards her. Lifting my upper half out of the water, I reached over and squeezed her shoulder gently. “It’s a bit overwhelming, hm?”

She nodded, sniffling a little. “I wanted more from my life than being a servant to the Great Houses. But now, I have no idea what I want.”

Shaking my head, I leaned in and kissed her on the cheek, watching her smile in response. “And that’s okay. Choose one thing for now, Amira, and I will help you start your journey. If things change down the road, we’ll handle that as it comes.”

She turned her face to me with a worried frown. “And when I leave your side, what then? Without your power by my side, will I be left adrift and lost?”

I shook my head. “I will not let that happen. I may be a retired god, but my reach is far. As long as I deem you worthy, I will help make things work. And you are very worthy, Amira, more than you think.”

This brought a smile to her face as her eyes darted down my wet, naked body. “...you are not just saying that because I am the best pussy you’ve ever had?”

I bit back a laugh. “That might be part of it.”

With a harrumph, Amira stood up and started to take off her dress. “Well then, I should continue to make sure I am worthy, for I am grateful for what you have done for me.
